Dinner last night

I ended up cooking the entire piece of salmon I bought. It was $14.75 and when I took it out of the package, I realized it wasn't going to be enough for two dinners. Sure, I could've stretched it a bit, but Dave didn't get home until after 11:00 and the last thing I wanted to do was skimp on his dinner. I waited to eat until he got home and together we ate about two thirds of the fish. He took the rest of it for lunch today.

This means that along with the baby red potatoes I roasted (I forgot I was out of orzo pasta!) and the broccoli, dinner for TWO PEOPLE and one lunch was close to $20. Again, I only buy salmon once a month, but this is a good illustration of how the AMOUNT you eat can affect your grocery budget. We eat A LOT.

First of all I wanted to say thank you thank you thank you for bringing back TNL. I became a daily reader when it was on club mom and now I can add it back to my wed feed on my blackberry. I know how you feel about one meal costing $$$. It happens the same here. Quick question, do you know a good expense tracker for blackberry's? I have been really wanting to track my spending but I haven't chose a program yet.

I know you probably have access to great salmon in the north west but a good way to eat salmon for less is to buy it at Trader Joe's. I can buy enough for 4 or 5 people for about $14. A whole lot cheaper than if we ate salmon at a restaurant and it is wild salmon too.

If you had that same meal in a restaurant, it would probably have been $50. It's nice to have little splurge at home!

Sorry, Jenn, I don't know of any blackberry apps. I just use SPEND for the iPhone.

Jackie, I think I will try the TJ's salmon next time I'm there!
