If you had $1,000 and you HAD to spend it, how would you use it?
The rules are:
No saving or investing the money
No paying off bills
Nothing for your children/husband/anyone else
You just have to spend it on something fun for yourself or something that would improve your life. Give me all your ideas!

If I could get lasik for $1000 then I would do that. Otherwise I would use it to add a couple of upgrades to my car (power locks, windows, cruise control). I have a 2002 Ford Focus that I love but it has no features!
I would RUN to my local camera store and buy the DSLR I've been coveting for a while now. (The new Rebel, thankyouverymuch.)

Hm, this is a good one. I might use it on a housekeeper for the year. If I was being frivolous I would buy a really expensive purse, go to a spa and shop!
I ran across a Cannon 40D for $1041 (with lenses!!!). I would definately get that. Shoot- I might get it anyway...
Two things...new Canon digital SLR (the one I want is about $550) and a really great bag. My $30 Marshalls cheapo is about to give up the ghost.
I think I would buy myself some really really really overpriced something or other at Pottery Barn. Maybe a very fancy haircut, a new coat, and some SUPER expensive shoes.
The hubs says he would buy a record player and $800 dollars worth of records.

I'd pay for as many sessions with a personal trainer as possible... it would help me focus on feeling better about myself and be healthier and more flexible.
I'd spend every single dime on sweet, sweet cocaine.

If I had a thousand dollars to spend on anything, I'd buy a ton of stuff from Smith and Hawken. Like these pots. LOVE.
I can never find time to do housework, so I would definitely put some of it towards a cleaning service.
The rest would go towards my fancy coffee addiction. :)
Sewing/crocheting/crafting supplies! Which might just feed my addiction, but might turn into a nice little home business....
I'd buy myself a new wardrobe because mine is pitiful, worn out, doesn't fit, and pretty much consists of 2 pairs of jeans and about 20 t- shirts. Now if only I could find somebody competent to help me shop so I didn't end up buying more jeans and fancier t-shirts.

I think I would spend it on a good fall wardrobe. Nice things instead of the junk I usually buy from Old Navy and whoever else is having a good sale.
I would buy a Blendtec Connoisseur blender (life is definitely better with a well-made margarita) and take my best girlfriends out for mani/pedis.
Oh this is so easy! I would buy a spinning wheel. I've been dying to try a new hobby. I would probably spend the rest on clothes. My closet is so bare.
I'd buy a real bed frame. And then a new set of sheets and pillows.
I would take a trip to the beach, NYC, Disney or wherever. As long as I was traveling. I love to get away.
My first thought was to pay part of a student loan off, but then I read the no bills part. My next thought was to add it to the insurance money to buy a new car (stupid Memphis drivers), but then I thought that isn't very helpful. So how about a plane ticket!
I'm going on a fun trip to Seattle with a friend at the end of the month. So I would use it for shopping, nice restaurants, etc. while we're there. Maybe hit Ikea in Renton!
A spa day and new clothes (new bras that actually fit!!!). That would make me so very happy!

Laser hair removal: I would negotiate a deal for armpits, lower legs and eyebrows. Throw away that razor FOR GOOD!

I'd either buy a new mattress set or do laser tattoo removal. Because I really didn't make the best choices at 18.
Massages for a year and a babysitter so I could actually go get the massage!
I would buy myself a fabulous new desk and ditch the Ikea computer table on wheels. Custom drapes for the bedroom. A few pounds of really, really good chocolate. Shoes. Expensive socks to go with. More shoes.
Travel, travel, travel! Probably a beach vacation to Mexico. Or a fabulous new bed.
Fix the fence in the backyard, so I could let the dog out to run around, not have to take her out in the backyard on a leash. She hates that, and so do I. It is falling down almost, so I would have to replace nearly all of it.
a PS3 and some BlueRay movies to watch on the projector. Books and yarn stash enhancement (yes, I'm a knitter), and maybe some clothes.

I think yours is the best answer. I have been following Stephanie and Carol's stories. So sad. I have no idea how they and their families are dealing with everything that is happening in their lives.
either Lasik or if that as too much, I'd use it to fund next year's blogger trip. plane tickets and hotel. i had so much fun in 07, but I didn't make it this year becasue of money.
I would take a trip all by myself. I could handle a couple of days without anyone hanging on me.
Oh I think I'd have to get a fancy TV to go with a Wii! My current TV was part of a move-in promotion deal from some apartments I moved into over 5 years ago. It still works but I think I'd need something bigger if I ever got my hands on a Wii.
Hire a personal chef for cooking classes
There's an $800 secretary at Pottery Barn that I want but I refuse to spend that kind of money on, so maybe that. Until you said nothing for anyone but us, I was thinking that I would spend at least part of it on putting together my daughter's room. Which is really sort of for me, since at 21 months she's still in our room! Or I might spend it on monthly spa trips over the course of a year.
$1,000 would be best used on a cleaning lady for however long that money would last. (I would replenish the money when spent.) Could be once or twice a month. That would be most beneficial to me because of some inabilities I now have. Ordinarily I would give to certain people but I am the needy one now.
I would spend $500 to update my wardrobe since I am almost done with pregnancy #2 and haven't bought anything new and great since the birth of #1 two years ago. I would spend $250 on a facial and massage because my skin is screaming for some help. The last $250 would be spent to hire a cleaning service to come and do a super deep clean of the house. After our remodel this summer I am still finding dust in remote places and my protruding belly makes it hard for me to reach them.
My teeth. They are starting to really give me problems. Any extra cash in the house always goes to the kids and husband and my needs are always last on the list. There is never any left when it comes to me time.
I, too, would spring for a cleaning service. I want someone to come and CLEAN THE HELL out of my house. I can't imagine how awesome that would be.
I'd spend the first $500 on new clothes (since it's fall and b/c of the economy, I've put a moratorium on my own wardrobe) and the second $500 I would donate to Obama. I know you said it can't be for anyone else, but it isn't. Trust me, getting Obama into office would bring me more joy than pretty much anything that money could buy right now.
